Diagnosis. Bracon pelliger may be separated from other species of the subgenus Osculobracon by the following characters: fore wing vein 1-R1 0.72–0.84× as long as pterostigma (Fig. 2A); vein 3-SR 0.95–1.10× as long as vein 2-SR; anterolateral margin of second metasomal tergite largely desclerotized (Fig. 2C); median length of first metasomal tergite (measured from petiolar tubercle) 1.5–2.0× larger than median length of second tergite; apical width of first tergite 1.1–1.2× larger than median length of second tergite; second metasomal tergite medially 0.50– 0.67× as long as third tergite and 0.95–1.10× as long as its sclerotized part (Fig. 2C); ovipositor sheath 0.18–0.23× as long as fore wing (Fig. 1A).
Remark. Based on the ICZN (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature) (i.e., article 47.1) “When a species is considered to contain subspecies, the subspecies that contains the name-bearing type of the nominal species is denoted by the same species-group name as the species, with the same author and date; this subspecies is termed the nominotypical subspecies” (ICZN 1999). Therefore, Tobias, 1961 is considered as the author of the subspecies B. (O.) pelliger pelliger .
