Material examined. Holotype (MNHN 5941) and 7 paratypes (MNHN 5940). 12 specimens in 2 lots from Vanuatu, 23 specimens in 2 lots from the Solomon Islands.
Distribution. Sirenko (2001) described this subspecies from a large series of specimens (83 in total) collected in Vanuatu at the type locality (Musorstom 8 sta. CP1074, 15.81˚S 167.40˚E, 775–798 m) and a single specimen from a second station further south (Musorstom 8 sta. DW1012, 17.88˚S 162.22˚E, 775 m). The current records extend the range considerably further north into the Solomon Islands. The northernmost record is 7.63° S (Solomon 2 sta. CP2212) and the southernmost is 17.88° S (Musorstom 8 sta. DW1012). Found living and feeding on sunken terrestrial plant remains, from 475– 798 m.
