Mesorhoea sexspinosa Stimpson, 1871: 136–137 .

Material examined. 1 male (CW 6.60 × 5.50 CL mm), 1 female (CW 7.92 × CL 6.15 mm), station SDN30, 06.v.2021 (CCDB 7463) .

Geographic distribution. Western Atlantic— USA (North Carolina, Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Colombia, Antilles, Guianas, Brazil (Amapá, Pará, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul), and Uruguay (Williams et al. 1968; Powers 1977; Williams 1984; Abele & Kim 1986; Bordin 1987; Campos & Manjarés 1991; Souza 1997; Barros & Pimentel 2001; Nizinski 2003; Melo 2008, 2010; Felder et al. 2009).

Remarks. This is the first record of Mesorhoea sexspinosa from Espírito Santo state. The values of the BLAST query cover (89–99%) and percent identity (>84%) were suitable for its identification within Parthenopidae MacLeay 1838, since our sequence aligned with the other of the same family (Marco-Herrero et al. 2015; Mantelatto et al. 2018). It is worth highlighting that the generated sequence represents the first record for the genus Mesorhoea Stimpson, 1871 on Genbank.
