Pachylophus Loew, 1858

Type species: Pachylophus frontalis Loew 1858: 121

Pachylophus is defined by the combination of its chloropine wing venation (costa extending to apex of R4+5), its appreciably swollen hind femur, frontal triangle with only a single line of setae on either side, face lacking a median carina and the compactly black-haired arista situated preapically or apically on a postpedicel that is more or less reniform, though in P. mirabilis, described here, it is more produced apically.
