Described from Rhodesia and further recorded from Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Zaire. Sabrosky (1980: 710) cited P. septembris as a possible synonym.

In the material from Nairobi the colour of the haltere knob differs from creamy white to deep black. A female from Kikuyu Marsh was dissected and was found to contain a single large egg.
