Xenicola Uvarov, 1940

Type species: Xenica superba Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1891, inherited from replaced name (nomen novum: Xenicola; Xenica preoccupied, Xenica Westwood, 1851 (Lepidoptera)). Holotype female, deposited at Museum and Institute of Zoology Polish Academy of Sciences (MZPW), Warsaw, Poland.

Diagnosis: The species of this genus can be recognized by the following characters: individuals with long and slen- der legs, giving a spider-like aspect; micropterous, with squamiform tegmina, much shorter than pronotum; vertex flat; fastigium of frons very narrow, at least four times narrower than scape; fastigium of vertex triangular, with a median sulcus; pronotal disc flat; anterior and posterior edges concave; pronotal lateral carinae more evident on posterior third; males with CuP very evident in dorsal view; hindwings present, extremely reduced, not exceeding tegmina; femur I twice as long as pronotum, femur III at least 5x longer than pronotum; male cerci cylindrical, apex curved. Ovipositor as long or longer than half of body length, acuminate.
