Melphinyet Larsen, 2012
Larsen (2012) critically evaluated the genus Melphina and described two new genera for species which had been placed in Melphina . One of these was Melphinyet, established with M. flavina (Evans) as type species and four other species.
Evans (1937) treated tarace Mabille, flavina Evans, unistriga Holland and statirides Holland as four forms of tarace . Evans (1956) presents T.H.E. Jackson’s observation that tarace, flavina and unistriga should be regarded as species since the forms fly together, are easily separable and do not intergrade, but did not accept this view. Subsequently, Lindsey & Miller (1965) agreed with Jackson’s view and formally raised all four to valid species separated by differences of the male genitalia.
