Odontopeltis proxima Silvestri, 1895,

see Silvestri, 1895b: 5, fig. 6.

Holotype male, from Argentina, deposited at MRSN, examined.

Note: the gonopod of the specimen possesses a well-developed ventrally projecting prefemoral process, which covers the acropodite. Silvestri’s illustration of the gonopod is accurate. This feature excludes the specimen from the genus Odontopeltis, but identifies the specimen as a member of the family Chelodesmidae . Silvestri’s drawing also indicates torsion of the acropodite, which was not confirmed by our examination of the type specimen.
