Psechrus rani Wang & Yin 2001: 335, figs 13–18 (Description & illustration of ♂ and ♀). Bayer and Jäger 2010: 65, figs 41–43 (illustration of ♂). Bayer 2012: 50, figs 23a–d, 24a–e, 85b, 88b, 91b (Description & illustration of ♂ and ♀). Psechrus sinensis— Silva 2003: 45, fig. 16a (illustration of ♂ palp, misidentified).

Material examined (1 ♂, 1 ♀): VIETNAM: Ha Noi Prov.: Ba Vi Distr., Mt. Ba Vi, 21°04'35''N, 105°22'13''E, 500–750 m, evergreen forest, P. Schwendinger leg. 17.V.2012, ♂ (SB 1232), ♀ (SB 1231), MHNG.

Remarks. In previous literature only two males have been studied and, in order to show intraspecific differences, a description and illustrations of the male listed above are provided here. The female SB 1231 has corresponding cheliceral dentition, colouration and its measurements fall within the range exhibited by the females examined in Wang & Yin (2001) and Bayer (2012). However, its spination-pattern slightly differs in a few aspects, which are listed below.

Description. Male: Body and eye measurements: Carapace length 6.6, maximal carapace width 4.7, anterior width of carapace 2.4, opisthosoma length 7.4, opisthosoma width 3.2. Eyes: AME 0.37, ALE 0.42, PME 0.43, PLE 0.42, AME–AME 0.18, AME–ALE 0.07, PME–PME 0.24, PME–PLE 0.33, AME–PME 0.46, ALE–PLE 0.37, clypeus height at AME 0.76, clypeus height at ALE 0.70.

Cheliceral furrow with three promarginal and five retromarginal teeth.

Spination: Palp: 131, 110 (prolateral one less than half as long as dorsal one), 1101 (prolateral and ventral ones less than half as long as dorsal one); legs: femur I 556, II 556{566}, III 556{566}, IV 565; patella I–IV 000; tibia I–II 3038, III 3134, IV 3036; metatarsus I–III 3035, IV 2026.

Measurements of palp and legs: Palp 8.6 [3.0, 1.3, 1.3, 3.0], I 60.0 [15.8, 3.2, 16.1, 16.9, 8.0], II 45.1 [11.9, 2.6, 11.9, 12.8, 5.9], III 32.1 [8.9, 2.0, 8.1, 8.8, 4.3], IV 48.0 [12.8, 2.5, 12.3, 13.9, 6.5]. Leg formula: 1423. FEMI+MTT-I/CL=4.96, thus legs medium-sized. This value corresponds to the general value for males of the ancoralis - group (on average ca. 5) listed in Bayer (2012, p. 47).

Palpal femur without modification, more or less straight and distally slightly broadened.

Colouration: As described in Bayer (2012, p. 51).

Female: Spination: Legs: femur I–II 556; tibia IV 3036; metatarsus IV 3033.

Intraspecific variation of copulatory organs: Male: Embolus and conductor base in SB 1232 (Figs 5A–B, 25A, 26A) slightly longer than in the males illustrated in Wang & Yin (2001) and Bayer (2012). Female: In SB 1231 anterior part of median septum (Figs 5C, 28B) slightly narrower than in the females illustrated in Wang & Yin (2001) and Bayer (2012). Vulva (Figs 5D, 31B) of SB 1231 only insignificantly different from that of other females.

Distribution. China, Vietnam (Fig. 34).
