Habitat (as in Indian records). Marine, intertidal; medium sand, 30–40 cm below surface, between low and half tide level.

Distribution. India (Bay of Bengal); Japan (Kasado island as M. cf hexadactylis); USA (Florida, Hummon 2010).

Remarks. Nomenclature and functional role of the accessory reproductive organs as indicated in the original description should be revised in light of the recent literature (e.g., Kieneke & Schmidt-Rhaesa 2015).
