Scaptococcus McKenzie

Scaptococcus McKenzie, 1964: 267; McKenzie 1967: 406. Type species: Scaptococcus californicus McKenzie, by original designation and monotypy.

Generic description. The generic description of the adult female of Scaptococcus has been amended to accommodate the new species, as follows: antennae usually 8- or 9-segmented, rarely 7-segmented. Anterior and posterior pairs of dorsal ostioles present. Plantar surface of each claw with a denticle. Circulus absent or present, sometimes with two or rarely, three circuli. Body setae flagellate and slender. Cerarii absent. Trilocular pores and discoidal pores present on dorsum and venter. Multilocular pores and quinquelocular pores present only on venter or on both venter and dorsum. Oral collar tubular ducts modified, with inner half of the outer duct strongly sclerotized, present on venter only or on both venter and dorsum. Oral rim tubular ducts absent. Translucent pores present on hind tibiae, sometimes also on hind femur. Anal ring apical, either simplified (with only a few cellular pores), or not simplified (with double row of cellular pores); bearing 6 setae. Anal lobes absent to slightly developed.
