Plathanocera Schenkling, 1902

Length: 6.5–12.0 mm (28 specimens measured).
Head: Head including eyes broader than anterior width of pronotum. Antennae short, not protruding base of pronotum; A4 shorter than A3 and slightly dilated triangularly, A5 conspicuously flattened, broad and triangular, A6–A10 broader than long, A11 mostly with broadly rounded tip. Frons with a broad, longitudinal, slightly elevated gibbosity and laterally with slightly flattened pit. Gular process long, very narrow.
Thorax: Pronotum slightly broader than long (length to width index 0.79:1–0.92:1). Prosternal process narrow, not dilated distally. Metendosternite narrow, slender, furcal arms diverging, relatively short, furcal lamina narrowly ovate, furcal stalk narrow. Anterior mesoventral process triangular, narrow, pointed, mostly margined.
Elytra: Elytra relatively short, longer than broad (length to width index 1.59:1–1.97:1), conspicuously domed, broadest shortly behind middle, at apex constricted; ground color yellow-brown to red brown, apex frequently black. Diameter of punctures half as wide as interstices.
Hind wings: MP3 and MP4 reaching the outer margin, AA4 slightly reduced, RC approximately square.
Legs: Tarsal pulvillar formula 4-4-2; protarsal pulvillus I straight to slightly emarginate, II–IV increasingly deeply lobed; mesotarsus I with small pad, II with conspicuous pad, pulvilli III and IV deeply lobed; metatarsus I and II with pads, pulvilli III and IV deeply lobed. With or without tibial carinae.
