Distribution: ARGENTINA (Blackwelder 1944): “Rioja, Nord-Argentinien” (Schoch 1898b, Krajčík 1998).

Note: The species currently in the genus Desicasta are Neotropical in distribution, from Panama to northern South America (Blackwelder 1944, Krajčík 1998) (Appendix II). The record of D. purpurascens from Argentina was repeated by Blackwelder (1944) and Krajčík (1998). Nevertheless, the type locality given by Schoch (1898b) needs a further verification. A locality named Rioja (not La Rioja) is located in the department San Martín, Peru.
