Allorhina hypoglauca Westwood, 1874: 475 (description; distribution), plate VII, Fig. 6; Janson 1877a: 146 (synonymy; distribution; references); Blackwelder 1944: 261 (catalog; distribution); Krajčík 1998: 74 (catalog; synonymy).
Distribution: NICARAGUA (Blackwelder 1944): “Habitat Nicaragua. In Mus. Hopeano Oxoniae et Higgins” (Westwood 1874). COLOMBIA (Blackwelder 1944, Krajčík 1998): Sante Fe de Bogota [Type locality] (Sallé 1857, Ratcliffe 1978); Boyacá: Muzo, 1 ex. (Ratcliffe 1978); Cundinamarca: Bogotá; Fusa (Ratcliffe 1978); Meta: Villavicencio, 1 ex. (Ratcliffe 1978); Santander (Suárez-G. & Amat-García 2007). ECUADOR: Manabí: Portoviejo, 1 ex. (Ratcliffe 1978). BRAZIL (Blackwelder 1944, Krajčík 1998).
Material examined: NICARAGUA: “46” [handwritten with black ink on pink paper], 1 female [HBBA], “ hypoglauca / Westw. / Fr.E.S. / 1874 / 475 / Nicarag.” [handwritten by Burmeister inside a black frame, pinned to the bottom of the drawer ].
Note 1: According to Janson (1877a) and Ratcliffe (1978), the type locality of A. hypoglauca, originally given as Nicaragua, is probably erroneous. Nevertheless, one specimen in the Burmeister Collection was labeled with this country.
Note 2: According to Ratcliffe (1978), Brazil (indicated by Blackwelder 1944, Schenkling 1921, and Krajčík 1998), is probably also erroneous.
