BATHYSAURIDAE

Bathysaurus mollis Günther, 1878, was recorded in the western Mediterranean by Sulak (1984). Reconsideration of this record is necessary since no successive works, including the world-wide revision of deep-sea lizard fishes of the genus Bathysaurus (Sulak et al., 1985), mention the Mediterranean as part of the geographical distribution of this species.
