Xenovarta lii sp. nov.

Vertex 2.3 times as long as interocular width, 1.5 times as long as pronotum. Pronotum 2.2 times as wide as long, anterior margin strongly and roundly produced, posterior margin slightly concave. Scutellum approximately as long as pronotum. Color and external features as in generic description (See Viraktamath, 2004).

Male genitalia. Pygofer slightly longer than high, narrowed caudally, ventroposterior margin with strongly inflexed subuliform process (Fig. 5). Fused valve and subgenital plates with distal part wide, parallel sided, each plate weakly bilobed apically with 4 macrosetae on lateral lobe (Fig. 6). Aedeagus with well-developed dorsal apodeme, shaft asymmetrical, curved dorsad, apex hook-shaped with large retrorse spine subapically at left side in ventral view, gonopore subapical on ventral side and located at 1/5 length of aedeagal shaft in lateral view (Figs. 7, 8). Connective stem slightly shorter than arms (Fig. 9). Style apophysis well-developed, approximately rostriform (Fig. 10).

Measurement. Length (including tegmen): 6, 6.9-7.0mm.

Type Material. Holotype 6, CHINA: Yunnan Prov., Maguan County, Dulong, 17 August 2017, coll. Yan Zhi ; Paratype:1 6, data same as holotype (GUGC) .

Host. Bamboo.

Distribution. China (Yunnan) (Fig 11).

Remarks. This new species is similar to X. subulata Xing, Dai & Li, but can be distinguished from the latter by the distal part of subgenital plates wide and weakly bilobed, each only with 4 macrosetae; and the apex of the aedeagal shaft hook-shaped, and with a large retrorse spine subapically.

Etymology. This new species is named after Prof. Zizhong Li (GUGC) in recognition of his good work on leafhoppers; and to congratulate him on winning the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Entomological Society of China, in 2017.
