Carrera & d’Andretta, 1950: 300-303 (original description); 301, figure 10 (antenna), 11 (femur and tibia posterior), 12 (wing), 13 (aedeagus and lateral plates), 14 (9° tergite and anal plates of male terminalia), 15 (male genitalia in lateral view) and 16 (9th sternite of male genitalia).

Type locality: São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil.

Holotype male with labels: (1) handwritten on white paper: “Cidade Jardim | S.P | col. Ramalho 1-44 [Jan. 1944]”; (2) printed on white paper: “111.180”; (3) printed on red paper: “HOLOTIPO”; (4) handwritten on white paper: “ Systropus | currani n.sp | Det: Carrera et | Andretta 1950 ”.

Preservation: Pinned; Missing parts: right antenna, right wing, left tarsus of leg III and right leg III.
