Remark: Rohde (1968c) experimentally infected the molluscs Angulyagra polyzonata, Bithynia (Digoniostoma) siamensis, Pila sp., Filopaludina martensis . Pila sp. is, in fact, Pila scutata for Rohde (1994).

Remark: Type host; sequences of 18S and partial 28S in the GenBank database AJ228785 (Littlewood et al. 1998); AJ243684 (Littlewood et al. 1999b); AF 023115 (Litvaitis & Rohde 1999); AY222166 (Olson et al. 2003). Rohde (1966), Rohde (1982), Rohde & Watson (1990a, b, c, 1991b) did not mention the hosts of M. purvisi, but the natural hosts for it are S. crassicollis and C. amboinensis .
