Salpichlaena
As a result of a taxonomic revision of Salpichlaena by Cárdenas et al. (2019) based on both morphological and molecular traits (several chloroplast genes and one nuclear gene), S. volubilis s.l. has been redefined, and a new species recognized from Bolivia: S. papyrus . Also, Cárdenas et al. (2019) recognized four subspecies within S. volubilis, so that the Bolivian specimens are now recognized as subsp. amazonica . Three species of Salpichlaena are now known from Bolivia, including S. hookeriana (Kuntze) Alston, previously treated (Smith & Kessler 2018) and the only dimorphic species in the genus.
