REMARKS
The single specimen collected was badly preserved and all of its plates were disarticulated. Aurivillius (1898) and Gruvel (1920) recorded Scillaelepas grimaldi from the Azores region between 845- 1230 m. Hiro (1932) considered S. superbum (Pilsbry, 1907) a junior synonym of S. grimaldi which was accepted by Zevina (1981). But, Newman (1980), in his revision of Scillaelepas did not recognize this synonymy. The new record of this species from the Gulf of Guinea extends southward its distribution and its depth to 2420 m.
