Elachista cingillella (HerrichSchäffer, 1855)
Material examined: 1 %, Primor’e, 20 km E Ussuriisk, GTS, 2.viii.1982; 1 %, same locality, 7.viii.1982, Puplesis [labelled in Russian]. In Coll. VPU.
Remarks. This species belongs to the Elachista cingillella complex as defined by Kaila and Junnilainen (2002), who discussed the identity of E. cingillella and closely related species. During the reexamination of our material from Far Eastern Russia, two specimens of E. cingillella, erroneously identified as E. fasciola Parenti (Sruoga 1991, 1995), were discovered. These represent the first records of E. cingillella from Far Eastern Russia. Previously, the most eastern record of this “European” species was from the Southern Ural Mountains (Kaila & Junnilainen 2002).
Elachista fasciola was described from Japan (Parenti 1983); it subsequently was discovered in Slovakia (Kaila & Junnilainen 2002) and Italy (Parenti 1996). E. fasciola very likely occurs in Far Eastern Russia but its presence there has not been documented in light of the recently revised taxonomy of the E. cingillella complex (Kaila & Junnilainen 2002).
