Comments. Chinavia runaspis is widely distributed in South America. Schwertner & Grazia (2007) included C. runaspis in the dichotomous key for the Chinavia species occurring in Brazil, and Fürstenau et al. (2013) described the morphology of its immature stages from populations of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Elaeis sp. (Palmaceae; Schwertner & Grazia 2007) and Ligustrum lucidum ( Oleaceae; Panizzi & Grazia 2001) are the only host plants recorded, however, considered unusual hosts for the genus according to Schwerner & Grazia (2007).
