Croton jacobinensis Baillon (1864: 302) .
— Croton auriculatus Müller Argoviensis (1865: 98), nom. illeg. superfl.
Lectotype (designated here):— BRAZIL. Bahia: Jacobina, 1845, J.S. Blanchet 3661 (P [P00623531!]; isolectotypes: G [G00311368!, G00434516!], P [P00623530!], F [F0093327F!], K [K000253581!], MA [MA249987!] .
Notes:—Just like other names in this section proposed by Baillon ( C. blanchetianus [see comment above] and C. claussenianus [Rossine et al. 2020a]), C. jacobinensis was established based on a collection deposited in two herbaria, Mus. (P) and Less. (G). Thus, it is necessary to designate a lectotype. Two specimens were found in P (P623531, P623530) and three in G (G311368, 2x G434516). The specimen G311368 is selected as lectotype for having open staminate and pistillate flowers, parts of the fruit and seed, and for being in better conservation state and in accordance with the description of the protologue.
