Lumbriculid clitellates with male pore(s) in X and spermathecal pore(s) in IX. Atria paired or single; male pores may be on chaetal line, midventral, or intermediate. Spermathecae paired or single, rarely three; spermathecal pores may be on chaetal line, midventral, or intermediate; anterior or posterior to chaetae. Testes paired in X and paired or absent in IX; if present in IX then smaller than those in X. Ovaries in XI, often extending posteriorly; female pores on 11/12. Elongate, distinctly petiolate atria with inner and outer muscle layers; inner layer with fibers in transversecircular arrangement or in a series of concentric lamellae forming low spirals in alternating directions; outer layer with fibers oriented either parallel to the longitudinal axis of the atrium or diagonally (spiral). Atrial ampulla narrowly fusiform, with thin epithelium, and covered with prostatic cells in numerous, petiolate bundles. Male ducts usually semiprosoporous, with anterior funnels (on 9/10) smaller than posterior funnels (on 10/11); one species without anterior male funnels. Thin vasa deferentia join the atrial muscle layer before the ental end; the posterior pair without a postseptal loop. Penial structures variable. Spermathecal duct with or without an ectal vestibule which may have internal lamellae. Epithelium of spermathecal ampulla differentiated, usually with vacuolated cells entally. First nephridia paired or single in VII. Branched, lateral blood vessels usually present, but often reduced, in posterior segments. Chaetae simplepointed. Prostomium with or without a proboscis.
