Diagnosis. Clypeus wider than long, less transverse; clypeus touching the eyes for an extension shorter than width of antennal socket; midlength gena equal to wider than eye; genal margin hardly sinuate, sloping up to the mandibles at its lowest point where the gena is also broadest; humeri pronounced; pronotum black, without anterior color band, and with prominence near ventral corner shorter and less acute but often more raised; pronotal fovea absent; scrobal furrow with less regular and usually weaker carinae; metanotum compressed; central tubercle of metanotum very weak, often hardly noticeable; metanotum with a pale band across the top half, rarely partly black here; keel on top half of propodeal angles shorter; first metasomal segment wider than long; second metasomal segment as long as wide. It can be easily differentiated from C. artifex and C. metanotalis because it has the central tubercle of the metanotum very weak; and is the smallest species in the genus Chartergus .
