Pityosporites sp. cf. P. constrictus Singh, 1964 (Fig. 13A)

OCCURRENCE. — Ashikajima and Kimigahama Fm.

DESCRIPTION

Bisaccate pollen grain. Central body more or less spherical, granulate. The sacci are reticulate; they are small, hanging, narrower at their base, letting a space of about 12 µm between them. The exine is thin (about 1 µm). Total width = 50 µm. Central body diameter = 30 µm. Sacci (length × width) = 25 × 17- 20 µm.

REMARKS

This grain is morphologically very similar to Pityosporites constrictus Singh, 1964 previously reported from the Aptian-Albian of Korea (Yi et al. 1993), Albian of Canada (Singh 1964), and Santonian of the Kuji Group in north-east Honshu, Japan (Miki 1972; Takahashi & Sugiyama 1990).
