Currhaeus paranaensis sp. nov.

Type material: Holotype, male, BRAZIL: Jundiaí do Sul—PR; Fazenda Monte Verde; Brasil 06.iv.1987; Lev. Ent. PROFAUPAR; Malaise. Secondary label: DZUP278373 (DZUP).
Diagnosis: Maxillary palpomere 2 twice longer than palpomere 3. Aedeagus presenting phallobase elongate, with short lateroapical thorns and thin suspensorial arms. Junction between base of phallus and phallobase short and almost as wide as phallus width (Fig. 17).
Description: Pronotum yellow with median brown subtriangular patch. Elytra yellow, sutural stripe in basal 1/3 (between suture and primary costa 1) and apical 1/3 brown (Fig. 10). Trochanter and basal half of the femur yellow.
Eye diameter 1.4× longer than interocular distance. Antennomere 4 as long as 5, about 1.3× longer than 3. Maxillary palpomere 2 twice longer than 3 and 1.5× longer than 4. Pronotum subpentagonal, widest basally, lateral margins concave, basal margin bisinuous, median longitudinal carina divergent in posterior 1/3 forming slender areola. Pronotum 1.1× wider than long medially. Elytra 4× longer than humeral width, presenting irregular subrectangular cells. Prosternum and mesosternum trapezoidal. Hind femora as long as tibiae and 3.6× longer than trochanter length. Abdominal ventrite VII with shallow median distal emargination, abdominal ventrite VIII elongate, rounded apically and pointed basally. Aedeagus with phallus widened in basal 2/5–3/5 and apex bent in almost right angle to right in dorsal aspect, narrowing before spherical distal expansion (Fig.17A, B). Phallobase elongate, suspensorial arms thin. Junction between base of phallus and phallobase short and almost as wide as phallus width (Fig. 17A, C). Body length: 6.3 mm, humeral width: 1.3 mm.
Distribution: Brazil (South region, Paraná state, Jundiaí do Sul municipality) (Fig. 18).
Etymology: species name refers to the occurrence site.
