Gambusia affinis (Baird & Girard, 1853)

Remarks: During the 1930s, Syria made considerable efforts to propagate Gambusia . Fish recognised as G. affinis in previous research; however, it became apparent that the species introduced to the Middle East was G. holbrooki (Çiçek et al., 2022) . Similarly, this is believed to be the situation in Syria. Nonetheless, a comprehensive study should determine whether G. affinis is also extant in Syria.
