Clarias anguillaris (Linnaeus, 1758)

Remarks. This species was identified as being from the Nile River, Egypt, and reported from Syria by Linnaeus (1764) and Russell (1794). However, Syria is not included in the natural distribution range of the species. Previous reports of C. anguillaris from Syria probably refer to C. gariepinus .
