Macromotettix Günther, 1939: 154; Blackith, 1992: 110; Jiang & Zheng, 1998: 317; Zheng & Jiang, 2002: 235; Zheng, 2005: 139; Deng, et al., 2007a: 129; Deng, et al., 2007b, 1620: 63; Deng, 2016: 127; Deng, et al., 2018: 422.

Type species: Macromotettix quadricarinatus (Bolívar, 1898) = Mazarredia quadricarinata Bolivar, 1898, by subsequent designation.

Descripion and differential diagnosis. Deng, Xin & Chen published a redescription in 2018, (see Deng, Xin & Chen 2018). This genus is similar to Bolivarittix Günther, 1939, but differs from humeral apex ridge and lower margin of pronotum connected in the middle or behind middle of lower margin of pronotum (humeral apex ridge and lower margin of pronotum connected before middle of lower margin of pronotum in Bolivarittix Günther). It appears similar also to Macromotettixoides Zheng, Wei & Jiang, 2005, but differs from the latter by posterior margin of each lateral lobe of pronotum with ventral sinus and tegminal (upper) sinus (posterior margin of each lateral lobe of pronotum only with ventral sinus in Macromotettixoides).

Composition and distribution. Twenty-four species are previously assigned to the genus Macromotettix Günther. In this study, three new species are described as new to science. Thus, to date, the genus Macromotettix currently includes twenty-seven species worldwide, distributed mainly in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Solomon Islands and Samoan Islands (Cigliano et al., 2020).
