Ophidiotrichus tectus (Michael, 1884)

Ophidiotrichus tectus Weigmann 2006, p. 360, fig. 192c.

Parco Naturale delle Alpi Marittime: AB single records, FRA, PAL sparse, FAG very numerous.

General distribution: Northern, southern Italy; Italian, Swiss, Austrian Alps; southwestern Palaearctic; Mediterranean?

Habitat preferences: silvicolous; xerophilous.

Remarks: Body length 250–270 µm. Several specimens from the present collection remind O. oglasae Bernini, 1975 in its shape of the anterior lamella (large lateral tooth on cuspis, short and round incision between cusps, Bernini 1975), but the interlamellar setae are short which is characteristic for O. tectus, in contrast to long interlamellar setae in O. oglasae (and O. corsicanus Bernini & Avanzati, 1983) confirming the assignment to O. tectus .
