FEMALE. (Specimens measured. South Africa: Holotype and 7 paratypes)

Dorsum. Dorsal shield 380(365–399) [376] long and 212(206–217) [206] wide, reticulate anteriorly to Z4 and mostly smooth posteriorly, with few striae. Setae j1 24(23–25) [25], j3 22(19–25) [22], j4 16(13–18) [13], j5 16(15–17) [16], j6 18(15–20) [16], J2 22(20–25) [20], J5 11(10–13) [11], z2 17(15–19) [16], z3 20(18–23) [21], z4 21(19–23) [20], z5 17(14–18) [15], z6 17(16–19) [19], Z4 38(35–41) [36], Z5 57(55–59) [55], s4 24 (22–25) [23], s6 28 (26–30) [28], S2 31 (29–33) [30], S4 34 (31–37) [33], S5 18 (16–21) [17], r3 21(19–22) [19]; R1 18 (17–20) [17]. Setae setiform, smooth, sharp-tipped, except Z4 and Z5, serrate and knobbed, and S4, blunt or knobbed; seta R1 inserted on membrane.

Venter. Sternal shield reticulate, with 2 pairs of setae (ST3 inserted on membrane); posterior margin slightly concave; distances between ST1-ST3 64(61–69) [67], ST2-ST2 58(56–61) [57]. Genital shield smooth; distance between ST5-ST5 66(61–69) [68]. Ventrianal shield smooth, pentagonal, slightly constricted laterally, anterior margin slightly convex, 126(117–132) [132] long, 95(86–101) [99] wide at level of ZV2, 85(80–90) [90] wide at level of anus; setae JV2 and JV3 present; round preanal pores posteromesad to JV2. Caudoventral setae smooth and sharp-tipped, except JV5, knobbed.

Chelicera. Movable digit 30(27–30) [30] long, with 3 teeth; fixed digit 26(25–28) [25] long, with 4 teeth and a pilus dentilis.

Spermatheca. Calyx funnel-shaped, with proximal half slender and distal half flaring towards vesicle, 28(23–36) long; atrium small, kidney-shaped.

Legs. Knobbed macroseta: St IV 33 (30-35) [34]. Chaetotaxy: genu II: 2-2/0, 2/0-1; genu III: 1-2/1, 2/0-1.

Specimens examined. South Africa: Holotype female and paratype females from Prunus persica, Potchefstroom, North West Province, IV-1954, P.A.J. Ryke; 6 paratype females from Prunus domestica, Potchefstroom, I-1954, P.A.J. Ryke; all deposited at NCA-PPRI.

Remarks. In addition to the macroseta, other knobbed or blunt setae on leg IV are found on genu (4 setae), tibia (3) and basitarsus (1).

World distribution. Lesotho, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
