Distribution. Western Atlantic—Brazil (Fernando de Noronha, Maranhão, Pernambuco, Paraíba, Espírito Santo, São Paulo) (Coelho & Ramos-Porto 1986; Barreto et al. 1993; Melo et al. 1998; Alves et al. 2008; Coelho et al. 2008).

Remarks. This species was previously recorded in São Paulo state as Clythrocerus granulatus by Coelho & Ramos-Porto (1986), but the exact locality was not mentioned. Specimens found from 56 to 110m (Coelho & Ramos-Porto 1986), and in the literature available the number of individuals captured is low.
