Eucyane phanoptoides Zerny, 1928: 2 . Lectotype hereby designated, male: COLOMBIA, Bella Vista, August 1927; with two labels: handwritten label “W. Columbien, Bella Vista, August 1927 ”, and another handwritten label “ Eucyane phanoptoides Zerny ♂ type ”. One paralectotype, male, with the samel labels as the lectotype (ZMHB) [examined].
Current combination. Hypocrita phanoptoides (Zerny, 1928) .
Condition of the types. Lectotype. In very good condition. Paralectotype. Left antenna partially broken; little damage to the right forewing and to the left hindwing. Right hindleg missing.
Remarks. The original description stated that there are two male syntypes, one of them in the NHMW; the whereabouts of the other one was not mentioned. The one found at the NHMW is hereby designated the lectotype. The paralectotype is at the ZMHB (see in section “ Arctiinae types described by Zerny and deposited elsewhere”).
According to Lamas & Grados (1996), E. phanoptoides is the senior synonym of Eucyane toulgoetae Gibeaux, 1982 . The latter was included in Hypocrita sensu lato by Watson & Goodger (1986).
