Holochilus sp.
An unnamed form mentioned by Gardner & Patton (1976) for Villavicencio, Colombia, was believed to constitute a cytogenetically different species, with 2n = 50 and FN = 58 an acrocentric X and a metacentric Y (Gonçalves et al. 2015).

A detailed analysis of Robertsonian rearrangements on meiosis of Holochilus species was reported by Nachman (1992b) and more details about the karyotype evolution and variability of the genus was reported by Aguilera et al. (1993).
