Syringophilopsis icteri Bochkov and Galloway, 2001

This species is known from three passerine hosts of the genus Icterus Brisson, I. galbula (Linnaeus), I. bullocki (Swainson), and I. spurius (Linnaeus) from Canada and USA (Bochkov & Galloway 2001; Skoracki et al. 2011, 2016). The present study provides a new host record and a new locality for this mite species.

Material examined. Seven females and 2 males from Icterus pustulatus (Wagler) ( Passeriformes: Icteridae), MEXICO: Jalisco, Chamela Station of UNAM, 19 May 2008, coll. S.V. Mironov (SVM 08-0519-3/2); mite specimens deposited in UNAM, UMMZ and AMU.
