Examination of a color photograph of the holotype of E. rotundipennis, sent by Herbert Schmid, and 41 specimens ranging from the State of Bahia to Santa Catarina, revealed considerable variation in the color pattern of the elytra. Based on this variation, we propose the new synonymy.
Geographical distribution. Brazil (Bahia to Santa Catarina).
