The identification of this species was verified by examining a color photograph of the holotype, kindly sent by Herbert Schmid. The species shows considerable color variation in the elytra, ranging from black with the humeri yellow-orange, to orange with the apical third black.

Geographical distribution. Described from Nova Teutonia, Santa Catarina, Brazil, and distributed from Espírito Santo to Santa Catarina (Brazil), Paraguay and Argentina.
