Pavoniocotes

The combination of characters described above are unique within the family, and no group of lice within Goniodidae seems to be particularly close to Pavoniocotes . Possibly, the sparse sternal abdominal chaetotaxy and the low number of thorn-like setae of the female vulval margin may indicate a relationship with Goniocotes; characters of the antennae, head shape, and genitalia of both sexes indicate that this relationship may be distant. The poorly known genus Pachyskelotes Kéler, 1940, shares the same narrowed, rectangular temples, but differs in almost all other significant characters (see Kellogg and Paine 1914 for illustrations).
