Distribution in the Balkans. Bulgaria: Kardzhali, Strandzha Mts. (unspecified type locality), Tsarevo (Michurin), Southeast Bulgaria (Vagalinski & Stoev 2007); Greece: Thrace: 20km W from Alexandroupolis (Strasser 1976).

World distribution. This subspecies can be found only in Bulgaria and Greece, while the nominotypical subspecies lives in Ukraine (Golovatch 1990) and Russia with the river Dnieper as a supposed western borderline (Prisnyi 2001).

Remarks. It occurs from sea level to ca. 300m a.s.l. First Megaphyllum (and millipede) record on Samothraki Island, fitting well with the “Thracian” distribution.
