World distribution. Endemic to the islands of Karpathos and Kasos, Dodecanese islands, Greece.

Remarks. The only species of the unique subgenus Cerabrachyiulus Verhoeff, 1901; the only known Megaphyllum from these islands. It is almost the most frequent species on Karpathos Island (Strasser 1970). In the database of Fauna Europea the subgenus Cerabrachyiulus is elevated to genus level (Enghoff & Kime 2009), but at the same time it is shown as a synonym of Megaphyllum . Until a genus revision is completed we suggest the combination Megaphyllum mueggenburgi .
