Material examined. HNHM: Republic of Macedonia: 13 DL204, 2006/26, Sveti Naum, springs and spring lake above the Ohrid Lake, 704m, N40°54’35.7” E20°44’52.1”, 16.10.2006, leg. Distribution in the Balkans. Albania: 13km N of Ersekё, Leskovik District (Mauriès et al. 1997); Greece: Nisista (type locality), Elati, Grevniti, Megalo Peristeri, Konitsa, Kato Kalentini, Epirus: Anemorachi, Epirus under Kopani (Strasser 1976).
World distribution. Restricted to the former „Epirus” region, Albania, Greece and Republic of Macedonia.
Remarks. New to the fauna of the Republic of Macedonia. This species is considered to be common to Epirus (Strasser 1976), i.e. its location on the border of Albania and the Republic of Macedonia fits well into the recorded distribution. Known from 410m to 704m a.s.l., it is the second species of the subgenus Syriobrachyiulus; the type species, Megaphyllum bivittatum (Verhoeff, 1923) lives some distance from imbecillum, in Israel (Verhoeff 1923). Crişan’s record of Megaphyllum imbecillum (Latzel, 1884) from Romania (Crişan 1999) is almost certainly an error, probably referring to Xestoiulus imbecillus (Latzel, 1884) .
