Distribution in the Balkans. Bulgaria: Stara Planina Mts., Central Balkan National Park; Rila Mts., Musala Hut (type locality), Granchar Peak, Rila National Park (Vagalinski & Stoev 2007).
World distribution. Known only from Bulgaria, from the higher parts of Rila and Stara Planina Mts.
Remarks. Not a strictly alpine species but occupying subalpine and alpine habitats, known only from the highest parts of Rila, Stara Planina and Rhodopi Mts. (Beron 1999). However, individuals from these three areas show no differences either in their morphology or in gonopod details.
