Protearomyia hermonensis MacGowan & Freidberg

Protearomyia hermonensis MacGowan & Freidberg, 2008: Israel Journal of Entomology, 38: 69 ( Protearomyia). Type locality: Har Hermon (Israel). Holotype ♂ (SMNHTAU). Male terminalia: Figs. 7–9 (MacGowan & Freidberg 2008), Figs. 27–31 (MacGowan 2014)

Distribution: Israel, Turkey.

There is little specific habitat information although MacGowan & Freidberg (2008) note that on Mt. Hermon, Israel the specimens in the type series were probably swept from three species of oak: Quercus boissieri Reut., Q. cerris L., and Q. libani Oliv. This species seems to prefer higher altitudes, in Israel records are from above 1500 m (MacGowan & Freidberg 2008) and Turkish records are from over 1200m. Most specimens have been captured in May, but the flight period extends until the end of June.
