Protearomyia iberica MacGowan 2014
Protearomyia iberica MacGowan 2014: Zootaxa, 3796 (2): 338. ( Protearomyia). Type locality: Lugo, Serra do Courel, Teso de Maria Galega (Spain). Holotype ♂ NMS-10000036. Male terminalia: Figs. 1 –6 (MacGowan, 2014)
Distribution: Andorra, Spain (provinces of Lugo, Ourense, Pontevedra and Salamanca).
Remarks: The Spanish material was collected at altitudes between 720 m and 950 m, the latter site being in a meadow. The material from Andorra was taken in a Malaise trap in the Santa Colomo area which lies at over 1000 m. Carles-Tolrá (2016) records Spanish specimens up to an altitude of 650 m with adults feeding on flowers of white Umbelliferae and the yellow-flowering umbelifer Thapsia villosa L. mainly in May, but the Andorra specimens were captured in June and July.
