An adult (Fig. 10) photographed on 30 January 2024 at Barrio Estación, Villarrica, Guairá department (25°47’36.2’’S 56°27’32’’W) by Victor Portillo, is the first record for the department. This is a common species in wetlands in the watersheds of the Paraguay and Paraná Rivers and has been previously reported from Alto Paraguay, Central, Concepción, Cordillera, Itapúa, Misiones, Ñeembucú, Paraguarí, Presidente Hayes and San Pedro departments (Waller et al., 1995; Cacciali et al., 2016b; Zárate et al., 2019; Smith et al., 2024). It is considered to be of “Least Concern” in Paraguay (Martínez et al., 2020c).
