Copris costaricensis dolichocerus Matthews (Fig. 5)
This subspecies is known from 1500 to 2000 m, in mountainous cloud forests and pineoak forests in the Volcanic Chain between Chiapas and Guatemala. It is also known from the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes and perhaps Quiché (one female cited by Matthews (1961)) in Guatemala. There are subtle differences between localities because the major males of Huehuetenango have the 8th elytral stria almost incomplete anteriorly.
