Basonym: Lactobacillus pentosiphilus Tohno et al. 2017, 3643 VP

Strainsof thisspecies do not produce acid or gas fromhexoses including glucose but ferment pentoses; growth is observed between 30 and 37 °C [286]. Thegenome size of the type strain is 2.63 Mbp. Themol% G+C content of DNA is 44.9.
