Glyptotendipes tokunagai Sasa et Kawai, 1979: 8 .

Specimens examined: Japan: Ishikawa Pref., Yamashiro Spa, holotype ♂ of Chironomus kagaensis, 11. vii. 1991, M. Sasa [specimen No. 227:55 (NSMT-I-Dip-4858)]; paratypes 5♂♂, as previous except specimens No. (227:56- 60) .

The following characters are recognized in the holotype of Chironomus kagaensis: body entirely dark brown; frontal tubercles minute; antepronotum widely divided by V-shaped median notch, fore tarsomeres without beards; abdominal tergites 2–6 each with a median scar-like expression; gonostylus semi-circular in shape; superior volsella long, slender, tapering to apex; inferior volsella long, spatulate. These features are identical with those of Glyptotendipes tokunagai .
