Genus Zeuxo Templeton, 1840

Remarks. There are now 36 described and accepted species of this genus (WoRMS, accessed 17/8/2018), made up of two former, now supressed, subgenera Zeuxo (Parazeuxo) Sieg, 1980 and Zeuxo (Zeuxo) Templeton, 1840 . The most recent accounts of the genus, or species thereof, are Larsen et al (2014), Bird (2015), and Tzeng & Hsueh (2015). Species discrimination is extremely difficult and requires morphometric/meristic analyses of characters such as cephalothorax and body length, and number of antennular aesthetascs, pereopod spines (crotchets), pleopod peduncular setae and uropod segments.

The species redescribed below would fit in the subgenus Zeuxo sensu Sieg (1980) because of its prominent coxal spur on pereopod-1, the two superodistal (‘tergal’ sensu Sieg 1980: 190) setae on the merus of pereopods 4– 6, and two mesial setae on the pleopod endopod.
